The legendary Basketball Club was started by Gordon Nesbitt in 1978 and were called Whitstable Pirates. Gordon's Friday-night club in the Nottage (CCW) Gym unfortunately stopped around 2001, but their new head coach has kept club going. They are still the team to beat in the East Kent League and are currently looking for an 8th successive league title (the most in league history).

In 2012, the former Ashford Outlaws merged with Whitstable basketball club to form a B team.
